3 everyday Kmart products I use to groom my dogs…

and you won’t find them in the pet section!

I absolutely love Kmart products - they’re cheap, on-trend and you’ll always find something that you don’t need but you have-to-have. As a member of the Kmart Lovers Facebook group I often see Kmart hacks where people transform products into something creative and unique or they find alternative uses for what a product was originally designed for.

These creative ideas got me thinking, and I came across 3 everyday Kmart products which I now use every week in my dog grooming business.

1. Three tier trolley

This Kmart three tier trolley is described as a smart space-saving solution to accommodate all your kitchen essentials.

I use my trolley to hold all of my dog grooming bits and bobs. My clippers, snap-on comb attachment set, mini trimmers, scissors, brushes, de-matting tool, cologne, grooming hammock, grooming belly strap, slip lead, extra batteries, protective sleeves, happy hoodie, you name it, it fits on the trolley.

When I groom my dogs, I set up my grooming table in the middle of the room and I scoot around the table on my hairdresser stool to groom each side of the dog. This trolley has wheels which means I can easily move it around the table with me and have everything I need within arm’s reach.

2. Weekender bag

This Country Road-inspired duffle bag is trendy, cheap, and can easily be hacked into a dog grooming hammock! I came up with this idea when I was first setting up my dog grooming business and I knew the equipment was going to be expensive and at the same time I had this bag ready to donate, so I thought why not have a crack! I simply cut out four legs holes and a hole either side of the bag for my client’s head and tail to rest comfortably.

I hang my grooming hammock from the horizontal bar at the top of my dog grooming table. I use it to support older dogs that may not be able to stand for long periods of time, dogs with disabilities and dogs that get really anxious when it comes to cutting their nails or trimming their feet. A grooming hammock can help relax them while you can quickly cut their nails without too much of a fuss.

3. Bag clips

These reusable bag clips are the best! And what I love about this set is that they come in two different sizes; small and large. I’ve being using them for years to seal food packages and I also keep a couple of the large clips in my dog grooming trolley to help me groom my clients bums!

When grooming a dog’s bum, their tail can easily get in the way, especially if it’s long, and you can accidentally trim it if they suddenly move, which can often happen when you’re touching their private parts. So, to keep their tail out of the way, I like to use one of the large bag clips. I clip their excess tail fur past their tail bone to one of the straps of the grooming belly strap I use to prevent them from sitting down.
